A day on the Links

I had an early rise to watch the USA play Portugal in world cup soccer. It was a devastating finish with Portugal squeezing out a tie with a second left in stoppage time. The games are all in Thai, so it is difficult to feel the emotion as it would be in the USA. It was a beautiful breezy day. Truly tropical! Golf was on the agenda today. We had two caddies that have carried our bags on several occasions. They are at your mercy to the point I feel uncomfortable to have them massage my feet, fan my face, hold the umbrella while I putt and look after all your belongings. The holes on the course are lush and the fairways are thick with Bermuda grass. The plant growing on the tree behind us on the golf course is a philodendron. This is amazing. It is over 50 feet tall. Huge lily pads around the golf course. You can actually walk on top of these big round ones! The Avocado Trees on the golf course produce many bushels of fruit. The trees are getting ready to be picked. FYI The Avocado fruit do not ripen on the tree. They begin to ripen when they are picked. The best means of storing an Avocado is to not pick it. They can last months on the tree until you want to harvest them. This is especially advantageous if you only have one or two trees in your yard. \ We went out to a Japanese restaurant tonight. You sit at a bar or table and the food is served to you on a conveyor belt. You have a boiling soup in front of you(you can adjust the temperature)and you pick the dishes of raw meat you would like to cook. The flavor of the soup you decide on is the taste you get when you cook your food. It is an all you can eat meal for 6 dollars. The conveyor has over 500 food plates to pick from. There are 20-25 different foods to pick from to cook. It was a lot of fun and a very good social time if you went with your family.
